Position: Grant Coordinator
The Journey Home is hiring a Grant Coordinator who is interested in helping our organization expand its ministry to the disadvantaged and those experiencing homelessness in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Founded in 2006, TJH is a community leader providing homeless services, housing assistance, and basic needs resources in an environment that fosters hope and self-worth, encourages faith, housing and economic stability, wholeness, and reintegration into community life.
We are a faith-based organization looking for a person who is passionate about serving God through their work and relationships. The ideal candidate is creative and well-organized, a gifted writer and persuasive storyteller – moreover, a person called to mobilize others for the cause of those most often overlooked. In this position, the Grant Coordinator will work with the Director of Development & Marketing and Executive Director to engage and develop partnerships with public and private foundations, business and community giving programs, government agencies as well as providing writing support for other Development activities.

Professional Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree
- Strong written communication skills, demonstrated ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals
- Passion for the mission and commitment to the guiding principles and values of the organization
- Attention to detail, strong editing and organization skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office and other publishing software and equipment
- Experience with reporting databases preferred
- Established relationships with organizations and networks in our local community beneficial
Grant Coordinator
The grant coordinator is responsible for managing a comprehensive grants program, conducting the full range of activities required to prepare and submit timely, accurate, compelling, polished proposals to foundation, corporate, and government sources. This includes prospect research; project management for grant applications; grant applications; calendaring, maintaining grants tracking, filing, and database entries; summary of awarded applications & project management of award signature process with the Director of Development and Marketing (DDM) and Executive Director (ED).
The Grant Coordinator will directly:
- Research prospective grant sources (private, corporate and government) compatible with TJH’s mission, values, and programs in support of the agency’s strategic and program goals and calendaring those prospects into the annual grant strategy.
- Attend bidder conferences and grant application training sessions hosted by funders, as necessary.
- Prepare and submit timely, accurate, compelling, polished proposals.
- Maintain a calendar of grant applications and report status updates in weekly meetings.
- Write, prepare and submit Letters of Interest (LOIs).
- Track and submit grant reporting on grant deliverables.
- Track all documents and program information required by funders.
- Develop and foster relationships with public and private grant makers and ongoing funder communications in collaboration with Director of Development and Marketing (DDM) and Executive Director (ED).
- Provide development support, in a team environment, with other fundraising and department initiatives and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including providing support for donor and media visits, assisting with special events, and general support as directed.
